Have A Psychedelic Art Experience at the Meow Wolf in AREA 15

Imagine a grocery store where the shelves are stocked with bizarre (but real) products, and behind every corner, there’s a secret passage. Omega Mart by Meow Wolf is a trippy, artsy immersive experience at Area 15, recommended for kids ages 4 and up. Best described as a mix of weird (the good kind) art, whimsical touches, and secret doors to funky installations. This exhibit is full of surprises and highly recommended for sensory-seeking kids.

The Mob Museum

The Mob Museum is a 4 stories building in Downtown Las Vegas that dives into stories of organized crime and law enforcement. Exhibits are interactive and engaging for older kids and teens. This coaster is built on a replica of Manhattan’s skyline and goes right above the Las Vegas Strip. It’s an iconic thrill ride in Las Vegas for anyone who loves the thrill of fast-paced coasters. Kids have to be 54″ tall to ride, but if you have little kids, no worries, you can take them to the arcade right there to wait for an older sibling.

General information: Tickets start at $25 per ride. The attraction is not ADA accessible. Food options are available within the New York-New York hotel. Best for kids 12 and older.

Pro Tip: Purchase a combo pass with arcade credits to save on both experiences. Parents recommend getting the tickets in advance online.

Plan for long days if you are short on time.

Vegas is truly the city that never sleeps. So if you have a limited time in the city and try to squeeze as much as possible during that time, know that museums and attractions don’t close at 5 PM over there. Pack a stroller for younger kids or a mini scooter for older ones. Pair up nap time with an adult attraction so you can last longer in the evening.

Kid-Friendly Shows In Las Vegas

Vegas shows are not all kid-friendly! Here is a selection parents in our community recommend.

Popovich Comedy Pet Theater

The Popovich show is a smaller, 50-minute production, lighthearted, that features rescued pets performing tricks alongside a comedic human performer. It is not a typical Vegas show, but it’s a great option for little kids. There is some juggling, cute acrobatics, and fluffy animals. Who doesn’t love that?

General information: Tickets start at $29. The venue is ADA accessible. Food is not served inside the theater, but restaurants are located nearby. Recommended for all ages, best for up to 10 years old. Seating is general admission, and strollers must be left outside the performance area.

Pro Tip: Early afternoon shows are less crowded and toddler-friendly. The front row seats are right near the speakers, so best to save money and step back a bit since it is a very small venue.

Pro Tip: Book front-and-center seats to keep younger kids engaged with the action and music. Book the rows past 6 or 7 to be comfortable and not have to look up.

Blue Man Group at Luxor

The Blue Man Group is a famous high-energy and multi-sensory show. The show combines drumming, lights, paint, and comedy. It’s a really fun 90-minute experience (with no intermission) that keeps kids engaged.

Explore Valley of Fire State Park (Red Rock Canyon Alternative)

While Red Rock Canyon is famous in Nevada, families have reported it to be a bit harsh for kids. Instead, GoWhee recommends checking out the Valley of Fire State Park. It is a little more than an hour’s drive from Las Vegas and offers similar out-of-this-world red sandstone canyon formations. The White Dorm Trail is a 1-mile hike, great for a short nature walk with kids, but there are a few other options that are super kid-friendly. The visitor center adds some educational elements to the whole experience.

The Truth About Fremont Street (Old Vegas)

Fremont Street is probably Las Vegas, the way you pictured it! You will find the famous resort and Casino, The Golden Nugget, and many iconic scenes were filmed there. But it is also a party street, especially on the weekends. Usually super popular for adults, bachelor parties, and public drinking. We recommend that families plan to check it out in the daytime and / or on weekdays instead. Make sure to choose your hotel more on the strip instead. Also, use caution when wandering in the neighborhoods surrounding Fremont Street, because it can be unsafe.

Other Note Worthy Family Fun in Las Vegas

These recommendation are a bit touristy and funky but if it’s your first time in Vegas they should be on your list.

Head over to the Venetian hotel and choose between the indoor and outdoor canals. During the tour (10 minutes), you will float on the famous boats, get serenaded by gondolier guides, and pass under charming bridges. Very touristic, but it’s a peaceful break from the busy Vegas Strip and still less expensive than a trip to Venice. If you are planning to visit Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, this is a great attraction to plan with since it is nearby, and they even offer combo tickets.

General information: Tickets start at $39. Rides are ADA accessible and allow for strollers when folded. Food and drinks are available nearby. Best for all ages. Each gondola holds up to four passengers.

Pro Tip: Opt for an indoor ride in the afternoon to avoid the desert heat, keep kids happy, and get great photos in any weather. Make sure to bring cash to tip your gondolier.

Some Local Restaurants To Eat Out with Kids in Las Vegas

Vegas is famous for its buffets and lots and lots of chain restaurants. Theses places are for the ones wanting to add some local joints to their list.

Evel Pie (Casual With Eatery For Lunch)

Take a rock-and-roll-themed pizzeria mixed with a bar vibe (at night) and some arcade games, and you get Evel Pie. The Evel Knievel-themed joint is on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. The decor is filled with colors, neons, and comic-book art. Parents recommend checking it out, and grab a pizza by the slice on the way to your next activity.

General information: It is a budget-friendly option, where pizza is sold by the slice or whole pie. Fully ADA accessible. Booth seating is available, and restrooms are on site. They provide GF, Vegetarian, and Vegan options.

Pro Tip: We recommend visiting this place for lunch since the night crowd makes the place a bit more “dive bar” atmosphere. Their slices are huge, so kids with a small appetite can share one.

The Guest House (Fine Dining With a Twist)

This upscale local dining spot is a rare gem for foodie parents who don’t want to sacrifice the quality of food for kid-friendliness. Located next to a shaded public playground, The Guest House offers seasonal small plates and craft cocktails in a cute environment. Rock ‘N’ Potato (Fast Food Casual)

This rock music-themed fast food casual place is right on Las Vegas Boulevard. You get to enjoy customizable baked potato bowls and loaded fries. It’s a fun choice for picky eaters and for kids who love adventure, since they are famous for their lobster options.
