Phú Quốc is an Island in Vietnam. It is home to the Starfish Beach, is a peaceful stretch of white sand where you can find orange starfish. Families love it because of the calm, crystal-clear water and local floating restaurants built on stilts. This lesser-known kid-friendly spot is quieter than busier tourist areas.
What makes this kid-friendly beach truly unique, is the abundance of bright orange starfish, naturally scattered across the clear, shallow waters. Kids can interact with them in their natural habitat. Don’t forget! Respect the animals when traveling by using best practices. Combined that with the soft white sand and you feel like you hit the jack pot for family pictures too.
The lack of waves makes it especially safe for children and relaxing for adults. It’s a place to slow down, unplug, and connect with nature in a uncrowded environment. Parents also love the fact that you can relax on sun beds while sipping a dink and eat a local meal at one of the restaurants on the water.
Here is an idea of itinerary for a day trip to Phú Quốc Island with kids:
The best time of the day is the morning since the starfishes move in the water in the afternoon. Parents recommend to avoid the spring season since the beach tends to be dirtier after raining season, the best time is winter months from December to February.
You can either walk from the car park ( about 10 min but the road is a bit rough and you need to know where you are going) or hire a boat for a round trip from the pier (it will cost you about 150.000 VND/ pers).
The beach is FREE. The umbrella and seats on the beach can be rented for about $2 USD.
No. The boat ride is not suited to accommodate wheelchairs and the road that leads to the beach is not adapted for wheels either.
Strollers are not recommended since both the road and the boat ride would make it difficult to maneuver the stroller.
There are no bathrooms so come prepared!
