Hopefully, you’re excited about Spring Break this year, though you may have gotten sucked into the worry that the school won’t take your kids back again this year like last year. If you’ve thought about Spring Break, you’ve probably spent some time deciding on where to go to beat the quarantines, stay away from the crowds, and feel like you are getting away! Here are five ideas of places you can go enjoy the break and come back refreshed.

Note: Make sure to double-check the daily updates for each country and states in the USA, make sure you factor time for your negative test, when you are coming back in the country!

To beat the crowd: The Florida Keys

If you have your heart set on Florida, remember that most families will have the same idea. Florida government officials are considering putting restrictions in place regarding the number of people on the beaches and in public spaces. So, think out of the box and explore the Florida Keys! Although they are not always promoted as a family vacation destination, the Keys have some amazing gems that will entertain both the kids and the adults, like the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory or the Siesta key with its wonderful kid-friendly beaches and a fun trolley experience.

Costa Rica

Another guaranteed warm getaway, Costa Rica’s hot dry season falls during the USA’s winter and early spring. The easiest and cheapest way to get to Costa Rica is through the San Jose International Airport. From this airport, you can take a shuttle either to Arenal to tour its volcano and see the rainforest, or to Manuel Antonio to experience the jungle beach vibes. In Manuel Antonio, you can visit the Manuel Antonio National Park, where you can see monkeys and sloths in their natural habitat along an amazing trail through the jungle. The trail ends at a gorgeous white-sand-and-blue-water beach.

Cancún is also for families!

If you’re open to going international, Mexico is always a great option to consider. Popular for its resorts and their all-inclusive packages, Cancún is a great option for basking in warmer temperatures and getting a break from cooking and cleaning. If all-inclusives aren’t your thing, there’s a great budget-friendly resort called Casa Maya. Casa Maya is very kid-friendly, with tons of kids’ activities, kid-friendly pools, and a mellow beach with shallow water. It also features easy access to excursions and has a couple of restaurants and a market on site.

Colorado Skiing: When they go warm, you go cold!

If you’re still craving cold, nothing beats winter sports and activities in Colorado! You can usually get really good deals on flights into Denver, which will give you access to a variety of ski areas located within only a couple of hours of the city: Vail is known for its European vibe and was constructed as a pedestrian-only village after its ski area was founded. Breckenridge is a very popular ski area with a really cute mountain town at the bottom of it with tons of restaurants and shopping.

From Denver, you also have access to Keystone, Copper Mountain, and the less-popular Ski Cooper, our favorite hidden gem. You can ski there for a fraction of the cost of the other ski resorts in the area. If you decide to ski at Ski Cooper, you can stay in the nearby town of Leadville, a historic mining town famous for its running and bike races. It is located an easy 15-minute drive away from the ski area.

Don't forget to look closer to home!

Most families will stay nearby this year, but it doesn’t have to be boring!

Reintroduce travel to your kids slowly by doing small local getaways, like a trip to a museum, a good hike, etc.

Don’t forget to look around for a cute hotel near you for some great local resident discounts!

Finally, think outside the box and dig into your local community for some inspo, or check the Gowhee app! You may just discover new things to experience.

Tell us in the comments… Where are you going for spring break!
